Before you buy: Good Investment

Q Is it currently a good investment to buy new build in Scotland?

Whilst every area is subject to its own individual growth trends, the overall current indicators are strong for buying new build in Scotland.  Scottish towns have seen the biggest increases in property prices in 2005, with areas north of the Border accounting for nine of the top 20 places in this year's UK house price league.  There continues to be a strong demand for new build homes, with anticipated shortfall of around 6-7,000 new homes in Scotland alone.

Q Is it a good time to buy new build for the buy-to-let market?

If you are looking for buy-to-let, we would recommend that you speak with letting agents to get an accurate picture of the property market. Currently, demand for rental property has been rising over the last six months, pushing up rental levels. That said, during 2006 it is unlikely that significant house price increases will be evident across the board, so the best investment will be medium to long-term.
