BBC SCOTLAND’S BEECHGROVE GARDEN COMES TO SIMPSONS PRIMARY SCHOOL, BATHGATE

Children from Simpson Primary School in Bathgate have been asked by housebuilder Strathclyde Homes to design a garden adjacent to the showhome at Scholars’ Gate, Wester Inch Village, Bathgate. Once the design is completed, the housebuilder will commission landscape gardeners to bring the children’s design to life.

Head teacher Lucy Maclean is delighted the children are helping with the project, she said: “Getting the children involved in creative outdoor activities is certainly something we encourage. We are particularly pleased that one of the Beechgrove Garden’s landscape design team dropped in to the school to offer the children the benefit of expert advice.

”All of us at Simpson Primary are looking forward to seeing the results of the children’s hard work.”

Lynn Harris from BBC Scotland’s Beechgrove Garden said: “Working with the children was inspiring and, like me, they are looking forward to seeing the finished garden. The design, that includes a materials and plant list, will be handed to Strathclyde Homes to enable their landscape gardeners to complete the work.”

Work on the garden is expected to be completed by the end of October.
